Jean Gotman received the engineering degree from Ecole Supérieure
d’Electricité, Paris, France, in 1969, the M.S. degree in engineering from
Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH, in 1971, and the Ph.D. degree in neurological
sciences from McGill University, Montreal, QC, Canada, in 1976. He is currently
working at the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital and is a Professor
in the Departments of Neurology and Biomedical Engineering of McGill
University. He is also the founder and President of Stellate, a company making
medical equipment for the analysis of brain signals. His research interests
center on signal processing and pattern recognition of the EEG, particularly in
the field of epilepsy and of long-term monitoring in the intensive care unit.
